Second Rotation of “Show and Tell: The Art of the Narrative” Opening

Join us on May 29th to celebrate the opening of the second rotation of "Show and Tell: The Art of the Narrative." Newly installed artwork will continue to explore the essence of narrative art and the stories behind them. Artwork by Derek Fenner, Ryan Gallagher, Dorothy Simpson Krause, Adam Norton, Lowell Community Charter Public School, Lowell High School, and Greater Lowell Technical High School will be on display. The Revolving Museum's Artbotics Program will be a highlight of the evening with their newly created automated kitchen installation. The evening will include music, light refreshments and a special presentation by Diana Coluntino and the Artbotics program to demonstrate how their kinetic sculptures work!

The first Middle Eastern restaurant in the United States - Club Zara - opened in Boston in 1952. Because of the similarities in culture, cuisine and social life, the Lebanese, Greeks and Armenians (all of whom started settling here 100 years ago) began mingling at each other's restaurants. This was a phenomenon unique in the U.S. Aziza! is a documentary (pre-production) that offers a unique perspective on how three ethnic groups intermingled socially, and how nightlife played a vivid role in the immigrant experience of these communities.

An 11-minute sampler of the documentary Aziza! will be shown at 9 p.m. Speakers will give a short introduction to the project. Vintage photographs and dance costumes, and related artwork will be on exhibit.

Teddy Bear Picnic

The Pollard Memorial Library and The Revolving Museum present Teddy Bear Picnic. Join us for a morning of teddy bear stories and songs! Bring a snack to enjoy at the end of the morning. Children are encouraged to bring their favorite Teddy Bear.

Historical Snapshots

An evening of historical snapshots of Lowell's and the region's immigrant stories, told through readings of letters home, recollections, and personal narratives from the nineteenth century coming forward to today. Readings will be done by a vast cast of the region's characters. Storytelling with a timely message about how we all got to the Merrimack River Valley! More information to come!

City of Lights Parade and Holiday Arts Stroll

This weekend celebration, in collaboration with area businesses, will transform the downtown into an arts market to kick-off the holiday shopping season. It will also inaugurate an effort to encourage shoppers to “buy local.” Downtown businesses will hire artists to decorate their windows, and empty storefronts will showcase artists’ works. Artists and crafters from Lowell Galleries and Studios will showcase their works for sale, and the Arts League of Lowell will organize a juried arts and crafts fair.
