| Building Vision: Industry and Art in Downtown Lowell |
|||
| Building Vision was an educational public art project that gives young people from throughout Lowell the opportunity to impact the creative growth and economic revitalization of historic downtown Lowell. This collaboration allowed artists and youth to join forces to produce innovative artworks and proposals for Lowell's newly designated Arts District.
The Revolving Museum believes that the transformational power of art and art making can nourish and sustain us intellectually, culturally, socially, and economically. As a result, The Revolving Museum is continuously cultivating future generations of community leaders and contributors. Artists inspire and are inspired by youth, youth inspire themselves and fellow community members, and the culminating efforts of all parties inspire celebration and social change. Lowell's youth are the next inspiring visionaries! Through this project, over 50 youth have been encouraged to express themselves, feel a sense of pride, and enrich their communities. Young people were exposed to new ideas about future opportunities, personal potential, and even professional careers. The Revolving Museum is committed to making their ambitious and innovative plans a reality adding to the next important chapter of Lowell's extraordinary history. This project is a partnership between the Revolving Museum, Lowell Public Schools, City of Lowell, the Cultural Organization Of Lowell (COOL) and many local businesses. The project is funded in part by Boston Architectural Foundation, Home Depot, the City of Lowell, Gear Up, Enterprise Bank and Trust Company, Unwrapped Incorporated, Higgins and Ross, Golden Artists Colors, Harmon Paint Company, and all the generous Revolving Museum artists, members, and friends. According to Stephanie McCarthy, the Executive Director of the Cultural Organization of Lowell public art is transforming downtown Lowell. " This project demonstrates our city's commitment to the creation of a vibrant, artistic community. This is yet another remarkable undertaking by the Revolving Museum, and we are proud their efforts." |
