Lowell Quilt Festival Gallery Night

The Revolving Museum will be open for additional hours on Thursday, August 6th during the Lowell Quilt Festival
Gallery Night. The current exhibition "Show and Tell: The Art of the
Narrative" will be on display with the addition of fiber art by two
local artists. Local fiber artist Laura Mayotte will display her "Femininity Shawl" and Ann Lee will join the exhibition with her quilts "Driven by the Dream" and "I Was There".

Having Fun With Your Camera - and learning to take better photos
|

Sunday, August 9th 11am-5pm Ages 18+ $70 per person
Learn
/ Review the basics of camera operation, shutter speed and aperture
settings for proper exposure in many situations and the principles of
composition with any type of camera.
We will be starting with
a one hour class room session to go over camera basics and composition.
Break for lunch. Then spend several hours wondering the street of
Lowell looking for scenic places.
During the fun field trip,
we will apply the technical basics that we learned during the first
hour and also reinforce the principles of compositional by taking lots
of photos.
The students will be shown and encouraged to look
at things from a different perspective. This is a hands on course -
where any type of camera can be used to great good quality photographs.

Still Life: Perceptual Skills and Observational Drawing

Monday, August 10th 11:00am -3:30pm Ages 13+ $56 per person
This
concentrated one-day drawing workshop will allow you to experiment
with, explore and further refine your perceptual skills while learning
how to create an image directly from a still life composition. You will
develop and strengthen your understanding of relationships, mark-making
techniques, texture, perspective, space, value, gradation, contrast,
line, form, and gestalt. There will be a half hour lunch break at 1pm.
There is a limit of 8 participants ages 13+ and the cost is $46 per

Digital Photography Field Trip- One Day Intensive Workshop

Saturday, August 15th 10am-4pm Ages 18+ $84 per person
Get
out of the automatic mode and learn other settings for a creative
approach to digital photography! Join professional photographer Alyce
O'Connell on a photo field trip around Lowell, as she guides you
through the ins and outs of both the technical and artistic aspects of
good digital photography. Learn to use your camera's manual setting and
discover how to optimize its features for beautiful results. Explore
the finer points of composition, exposure, white balance, and more.
This workshop includes useful critiques on your shots and quick tips on
editing your photos using Adobe Photoshop.

Lowell Unplugged: Acoustic Music Night

Come
join the Revolving Museum for a night of music, art and community as we
host our second "Lowell Unplugged: Acoustic Music Night." A special art
component will also be added as guests are invited to join the Conscious Alliance Student Club
from Umass Lowell in making Aborigine dot paintings of animals and
nature. So come out with your family and friends to support the local
Lowell music scene on Saturday, July 22nd at The Revolving Museum in
downtown Lowell. This event is FREE and all ages are welcome. Please
