The Full Moon Celebration at the Harmonic Center of the Universe is scheduled for May 9 (rain date May 16) from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m and will take place in Lowell’s Harmony Park. This
event will feature an exclusive display of interactive sculpture
created by renowned artists that will engage attendees and embrace the
park with flowing light and music!
Highlights
for this family-friendly event include a full program of music, dance,
and performances reflective of the community’s diverse cultures, with
light-themed art activities guided by the community’s teen artists -
Revolving Museum Vanguardian Art, Lowell Community Health Center Youth
Coalition, United Teen Equality Center Fresh Roots and Community
Teamwork Inc Artship Enterprise and Youth Build.
A centerpiece sculpture is being created by acclaimed artists Chris Harvey, Olivia Robinson, and Jesse Stiles. In The Harmonic Center of the Universe, a luminous orb hovers on a 16-foot tall bamboo tripod, swathed in garlands of lights. A seat suspended below the structure will beckon attendees to sit and activate the flow of animated lights and music. Activation of the sculpture begins at 8pm for this night only! A must-sit experience for all!

Ankgor Dance Troupe 2007.
|
A
full program of music and dance performances will entertain throughout
the evening, including: Afro-Latino Drums by Cornell Coley,
Native-American Pow Wow music by United Native American Cultural
Center, Cambodian Dance by Angkor Dance Troupe, Spanish Guitar by Eric
Anthony, and Fire Performers. Young artists will guide
attendees with hands-on art activities—paper lanterns, origami, light
art, face painting, and LED fireflies. Lowell High Fine Art Academy students will showcase their permanent park contribution of game board tables. Refreshments
will be provided by the United Teen Equality Center’s Fresh Roots
program, and Brazilian Food by Romeo And Juliet Café. The light
sculpture will be activated at 8 p.m. just before dusk and for this night only!

About the Artists
|
|
Chris Harvey
is a New York based multimedia artist and entertainment art director.
Awards received include an Emmy (and two other Emmy nominations), a
Peabody, three colors of Broadcast Design Association awards, as well
as recognition at film festivals in Chicago, New York, and Cologne.

Olivia Robinson
is an installation artist, using photography, weaving, video,
inflatable sculpture, multi-media and circuitry. She views installation
and performance as mediums for connections between people and
communities across boundaries and history. After earning her BFA in
fiber art from the Maryland Institute College of Art, she received a

Jesse Stiles was born in 1978 in Boston, MA. He is a musician, multimedia artist, and designer of systems.Stiles adopted the computer as his primary composition and performance tool at the age of 12. Harmony
Park is located at the corners of Cross and Cork Streets in the Acre
neighborhood of Lowell, and next to Saint Patrick Church. Directions by car:
From either Rt 495 (Exit 35C), or Rt 3 (exit 30N Northbound or 30A
Southbound) take the Lowell Connector to Thorndike Street (Exit 5B). At
4th light, Thorndike St merges onto Dutton Street. Go to the next light
and turn left onto Broadway Street. After 1/8 mile, turn right on
Adams, and then right on Cross Street. The park is 1 block down on the
right hand side. Directions by train,
take the downtown shuttle bus from Gallagher Terminal, getting off at
the Dutton Street and Broadway intersection. Cross Dutton Street onto
Broadway Street; walk down Broadway 5 blocks and turn right onto Cork
Street. The park is one block away. See map on Mapquest.
