Lowell Honeysuckle Gateway, 2003
Mixed media
The Lowell Honeysuckle Gateway consists of an open lace-like wooden stick
structure forming a gabled archway. The 12'h x 8'w x 5'd archway is constructed
of wire bound wood saplings with honeysuckle vines and blossoms growing throughout.
As the ticket window facade of the old Lowell depot stands to demarcate the
entrance to the beginning of a rail journey, the vine filled structure of the
Lowell Honeysuckle Gateway creates a visual and physical link between the trolley
tracks, the Victorian Garden, the head of Middle Street and the encounter of
a journey through Lowell via the arts and entertainment district.
