Light at the End of the Tunnel: Community Art Train, 2003
Mixed media

Children and adults alike are fascinated by the magic of trains. It is easy to be enthralled by the distinct whistle, technological beauty, and the significant place of railroads in America’s history. For this project, students of many different cultural backgrounds came together to celebrate their uniqueness within the metaphor of individual passengers on a train. The lampshade portraits that they created illuminate their artistic talents, ideas, interests, and passions. Young people can contribute to the vitality of Lowell’s new arts district. As part of the Revolving Museum’s mission to make space for art and the community, we are pleased to provide young people with such creative opportunities and learning experiences.
