Much like cultural tradition, the basketball court has clearly defined
boundaries. Although many young people in the Southeast Asian community
play in both the courts of tradition and pop culture, the choice of
where to play is ever present. James Higgins, a Lowell-based
photographer, has been playing basketball in the Southeast Asian
community for the last twenty years. During this time, he has visually
documented pop culture and traditional culture in the Southeast Asian
community.
