The Revolving Museum is planning a comprehensive and eclectic series of events combining public art projects, urban revitalization projects, and a city-wide celebration that has great potential to celebrate Lowell’s extraordinary cultural community and generate new and increased tourism in Lowell. This innovative enterprise will use a range of public art, marketing strategies, education programs, and beautification projects to transform three historically significant yet underutilized public spaces. ARTventures activities will turn these sites into revitalized, provocative and highly enjoyable places through (1) Public art works that will comment on both Lowell’s storied history and on some of the major influential dynamics of 21 st century American society, (2) Several related beautification projects to clean up and enhance these sites’ access and interest, and (3) Promoting civic dialogue and pride throughout the Lowell community. In short, ARTventures will be an exciting artistic and community-enhancing way to acknowledge Lowell’s past, present and future and to explore ways to “ride the wave” of history - using the vehicles of public art and urban revitalization to celebrate the great creative accomplishments of city of Lowell and its diverse citizens.
